𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐅𝐋 (𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒): The City of Naples has issued a local State of Emergency in response to Major Hurricane Milton. Milton is forecasted to remain a major hurricane and bring significant storm surge and coastal flooding to the City of Naples.

Residents are urged not to focus solely on the forecast track, as there is significant uncertainty, and the storm may wobble. Our area is currently under a 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 and 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, with increased risk of life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds along Florida's west coast beginning tomorrow evening.
This afternoon, the Board of County Commissioners issued a 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝐚𝐭 𝟔:𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐌. Residents should prepare their homes, implementing family and pet care plans, secure emergency supply kits, and move to higher ground by tomorrow. Evacuations do not require leaving the state - just moving inland to safer areas.

Please ensure any horticultural debris is secured on your property to prevent it from becoming dangerous, flying debris or clogging storm drains.

To Open Shelters:

Emergency Shelters - Remember, there are very limited services; think lifeboat, not love boat! Those who plan to use emergency shelters should bring any necessary medications, cell phone chargers, toiletries, food, water, flashlights, bedding, and anything else they need to be comfortable.

A Special Needs-Only Shelter will open at Palmetto Ridge High School for electrically dependent or bedridden pre-registered clients who require nursing care. A family member or caregiver is asked to accompany the special needs person to the shelter.
