Exciting news!!! While this is normally not considered the 'baby' time of the year...we now have 15 new chicks!! Yahoo, we'll be back in the egg business again my dear local friends. I would love to hear some names for them, the more original the better 🐔🥰🐔. I'm afraid the only prize is using the name you suggested.
My favorite time of day. It is so peaceful and quiet, perfect for reflecting on the day. Have a wonderful evening everyone.
Blessings!!!! They don't have teeth!

Well gang, Hurricane Ian was an event I prefer NOT to experience again. I pray all of you are safe and sound, and that the damage to your homes is not catastrophic!! My house became an island for awhile, my son even got stung by a catfish while standing in our driveway!!! The house didn't flood, but our back garage/shop/Packer Palace did. So, we're starting the process of gutting it and rebuilding. The roof of the house and garage will both have to be replaced. Unfortunately, the farm was decimated!!! The flooding destroyed a good number of trees and the roof of the coop totaly blew off, so much damage to it. We've down from 40+ chickens to 6!😭 (part of the reason you'll see in the pictures...we had lots of visitors!). So, this year instead of doing markets, we'll be rebuilding the farm. Plans for a state of the art chicken coop are drawn up, now to get permits. This is going to take awhile, so, I don't think I can do markets this year. Between seminary classes and rebuilding, there just isn't time. We are still selling eggs as the girls permit, and still at $6/dozen. We've kept that price over the past year and will continue to do so as we can. Well, I'm praying all of you are well, I'll post rebuilding pictures as I go. New chicks and baby turkeys will be joining the family too! XOXO to all of you🥰

Yep, 5 dead chickens. I do believe my video surveillance cameras caught the culprits! Some reinforcing done today.
Guess who is coming for a visit? Hurricane Ian! Prayers for Florida please.🙏 Stay safe if you're in the cone as well, at least it's not Irma!

God has been working overtime! This was an absolutely gorgeous rainbow.
They're hungry!! I just love to watch them run. You can never be in a bad mood around chickens!!

It's been a little too long since I said 'howdy' to everyone. How is everyone doing? How has your summer been? Any exciting adventures you want to share?
It's been crazy busy here. I'm so grateful for all the rain we've been having. SWFL has the prettiest clouds ever, especially when they are followed up by beautiful rainbows! Everything looks so green and clean...except for the dogs that is. The sour sop (the yellow strange looking flower) and grapes are apopping and the peanut butter tree actually produced! Unfortunately, someone else got to it first😡 The new gator is totally awesome - I feel a little spoiled (IT HAS AC!). And now some crazy news, alsmost 20 years to the day (ok, off by a few months), I been accepted to Asbury Theological Seminary again! Woohoo, I'm going for my M.A. in Biblical and Theological Foundations. Actually, I'm attending Asbury and Colorado Christian University (M.
A. in Biblical Studies). I tell ya, going back to school after 20 years is...stimulating to say the least. Have to get back to my paper, have an awesome evening everyone.

So happy! The guave trees are going to fruit (great flowers!), the yellow shower tree is full bloom and a wild mama duck decided to have her family here. ❤️

How is everyone? We survived the storm that hit Friday and Saturday, but not before she dropped 8.
5" on us! The plants are all happy, the ducks and my dogs are all happy, and the pond is full again - the veggies are all happy also. Everything looks so clean
and smells so good. We've been very busy replacing our fence (1/2 mile worth), taking care of a few more babies - Peggy Sue Harris, a while back you suggested Foghorn Leghorn as a name, well these are leghorns (blue breasted) so we're taking you up on that suggestion. Been planting too - I like unusual trees so I found and planted a peanut butter tree (!! No kidding!!), Jaboticaba (this tree grows its fruit on it's trunk, look it up), soursops, grapes, kiwi, passion fruit, mamey fruit, vanilla bean orchids (this is where vanilla comes from.an orchid - no kidding) and Hong Kong orchid trees. We've also added
various citrus trees. Now I'm in the process of building a rose garden - 24 roses in! Yes, it been busy. What have you all been up to? Any special plans for the summer?
I hope this post finds all of you happy and healthy. Make it a great day for you and another. God bless all of you🤗

4 new babies on the farm. These are Black Diamond chickens. I'm praying one is a rooster. They're going to grow up and look like the last photo. Need names for them, suggestions?
