Grow Beyond Counseling
Alicia Allen, LCSW, MEd
We’ve been a little quiet over here lately, but not without reason. A lot has been happening behind the scenes, and we’re excited to start sharing what’s next.
First up: the launch of our new Grow Beyond Counseling website for our Louisville, KY location 🎉🎉🎉 Please take a look and share with anyone you know who might be interested!
For Kentucky, Alicia Allen is bringing her work with high-performing professionals—medical, aviation, and executive (think C-suite) —front and center, while continuing to focus on what she’s most passionate about: trauma, s*x & s*xuality, and relationship therapy.

Of course, Professor Pax has to be include! Ummm...I beginning to question his expertise and qualifications. He always gives the same treatment plan for all cases presented:
1. Snacks
2. Pets
3. Nap
4. Repeat as needed
I guess he's just really somatically focused 🤷🏽♀️

Ever call a therapist or medical provider to book an appointment… and never hear back?
Or you finally do—and you’re scheduled with someone other than the person you carefully chose?
I hear this all the time. And honestly, it’s disheartening. People don’t make those short lists casually. There’s research, vulnerability, and usually a fair amount of emotional energy behind that call.
Sometimes it works out—if the person you’re scheduled with was already on your list. But often, it doesn’t. And that gap? It’s a real barrier to accessing care.
I also get the other side. For solo therapists or small group practices without admin support, managing calls and scheduling can feel overwhelming on top of clinical work.
So here’s the real question:
If you’re a therapist—solo or group—how are you handling this without burning out or dropping the ball on access?
Do men really not care about relationships? Of course they do! Here’s my take on a recent study that found 1) Women in their study initiated breakups at higher rates then the men
2) Men in the study struggled more than women to recover from a breakup.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Ever wonder where the inspiration for a men’s group came from? What you’ll get out of this group? We get the answer straight from Jacob!
