Think swinging harder automatically means more distance?

Think again.

Steve and I proved that more club head speed doesn't always equal longer drives.

When you overswing, you lose posture, release the club too early, and sacrifice the one thing that matters most: Solid contact.
Better mechanics beat brute force every time.
The numbers don't lie.

Inconsistent iron contact is one of the most frustrating issues for senior golfers, and it usually comes down to one thing: where the low point of your swing is.

If the club bottoms out before the ball, you get fat shots. If it bottoms out too far past the ball, you get thin shots. The goal is to have the low point just past the ball, on the target side of the turf.

To train this, focus on keeping your weight moving toward your lead foot through impact. A forward leaning shaft at contact naturally compresses the ball and produces that crisp, clean strike.

One simple weight shift thought can transform your iron game entirely.

Most senior golfers try to gain distance by swinging harder, but that approach almost always backfires.

The real key to adding yards with the driver comes down to two mechanical moves: widening your swing arc in the backswing and fully clearing your hips through impact.

A wider arc creates more room for the clubhead to accelerate, and a cleared hip turn ensures all that energy transfers into the ball at the right moment.

You do not need to swing harder. You need to swing smarter and these two adjustments are where it starts.
