Parents, even teacher parents, give yourself and your kids grace right now. And when you think you’ve given enough, give some more. BE who they need you to be, even if that means academic work doesn’t get to take priority. If you put too much burden on yourself it will be difficult to remain regulated and navigate this with your kids.

Though we aren’t at this exact juncture of kids not returning to school this school year, there is great info in this video to help navigate all the feelings parents and kids are experiencing right now. This is a great idea to try as an individual or a family. Making a bucket list of things we are missing helps process the current losses we are experiencing, helps us show gratitude for the things we appreciate in life, and will be a fun way to connect when we can engage in these activities again.

During these challenging times we are fortunate to have the option to transition to telehealth. Though this may feel different initially, it can be helpful in keeping momentum in counseling, as well as maintaining emotional well-being as we cope with the many changes during this difficult time.
