Covenant Classical School

We welcomed calligraphy artist Timothy Botts to chapel last week and watched as he transformed our theme verse for the semester from Exodus 15 into a beautiful piece of art: “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” As Mr. Botts did so, he helped us meditate with renewed vision on God’s character and wonders, past and present.

Each grade at Covenant delves deeply into a branch of scientific study, taking the time to genuinely appreciate the material studied. Our third graders immerse themselves in astronomy, and they created their own solar system models!

Our House system gives middle school and high school students a place to belong, grow together, and form lasting friendships with students of all ages and backgrounds. Last week at the House Reveal, our fifth graders and new Covenant students were welcomed with great joy into one of our four Houses—and into this special part of life at Covenant.

"The lunchroom was a calamity of doughnuts! Doughnuts in the window, doughnuts piled high on the shelves, doughnuts stacked on plates, doughnuts lined up twelve deep all along the counter, and doughnuts still rolling down the little chute, just as regular as a clock can tick.”

On this first week of a new school year, we are grateful for the opportunity to welcome old and new friends, for our dedicated and gifted faculty, and for families who have come together under a common mission. May this be a year of joyful learning!

We enjoyed welcoming high school students to Covenant last week! Students spent time with faculty preparing for the new format of Collegiate Model learning, which combines in-person and guided independent study. Then, symbolic of the year ahead, they embarked on a new experience in community: horseback riding! Looking forward to a year of growing and pursuing wisdom together.

We have a few spots remaining in our Junior Kindergarten program for 4-year-olds! The program is three days a week and offers families the option of full-day or half-day.

The class is taught by Mrs. Soehren, who has faithfully guided preschoolers and kindergarteners for three decades. Having taught Covenant's inaugural kindergarten class in 2010 and the 16 kindergarten classes that followed, she is committed to helping our youngest learners get the very best start.
