Prevention takes community—and we're lucky to be part of one that cares so deeply. 🧡🐾

🐾 Yesterday, we shared the story of a community member who was able to access affordable spay/neuter services through Napa Humane's income-eligible program.

Stories like that don't happen by accident. They happen because our community invests in prevention.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, grantors, and community fundraising efforts, Napa Humane has funded 𝟏𝟖𝟕 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟒𝟔 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Sometimes prevention is as simple as making care accessible.

Recently, a community member came to Napa Humane after rescuing three dogs from a difficult situation. His first priority was getting them safe and stable. But once the immediate crisis had passed, he faced another challenge: the cost of spaying and neutering multiple newly rescued pets.

Through Napa Humane's income-eligible program, our team was able to act quickly—helping ensure a female dog received surgery before an unplanned litter could occur.

Because affordable care was available, these dogs got the support they needed to stay safe, stable, and in a new loving home.

This is what prevention looks like: supporting people who are doing their best, helping pets stay healthy, and preventing small challenges from becoming bigger ones. 🧡

At Napa Humane, we’re proud to provide affordable spay/neuter services, preventive care, and shelter medicine support to Napa County Animal Shelter as part of our shared commitment to animal welfare in Napa County.

Right now, our friends at Napa County Animal Shelter — the county’s animal sheltering agency — are in urgent need of community support.

The shelter is currently at capacity for dogs and is seeking:

🐾 Turns out the Napa Humane team doesn’t always stop at Friday… sometimes we sneak in a Caturday!

If you happened to peek through our windows on a recent Saturday, this is what you would have seen: carriers filling the waiting room as our team worked to support Pope Valley Animal Rescue PVAR during a special community cat spay/neuter day at Napa Humane.

Together, the team helped spay and neuter 17 community cats and 1 dog — including 12 female cats, helping prevent future litters before they begin.

This is what prevention looks like:
people coming together, giving their time, and acting before shelters and rescues become overwhelmed. 🧡

In observance of Memorial Day, Napa Humane will be closed on Monday, May 25. Our clinic and offices will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.
