If you’ve been here for a hot second, then you know that I am NOT a reader. But somehow, I’ve already finished my 4th book of the year. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve read four books in a single year in my entire life!
The latest one I finished was My Husband's Wife by Alice Feeney.
This one is part thriller, part “whodunit,” with a side of “do you really know the people you know?” I listened to this one on audio, which I HIGHLY recommend. And yes, audiobooks absolutely count as reading.
When I got to the last few chapters, I literally had to rewind and relisten because the twists were so good that I thought I misheard something!
If you like mystery and suspense without it being super dark, horror-filled, or gory, this is a really solid pick. It was also a nice little palate cleanser after the highly emotional, gut-wrenching books I read before this one.
My rating: ⭐️ 3.75/5

Motherhood is such a beautiful patchwork of the women who shape us along the way.
As I’ve reflected this Mother’s Day, I realize how much of who I am came from the incredible women God placed in my life.
From my young single mom who taught me resilience and hard work, to my fun and feisty Granny who gave me my love of jewelry, painted nails, and probably too many clothes. From my thoughtful aunt who modeled kindness and grace, to my mother-in-law who has loved and supported our family through every season imaginable.
Each of these women left fingerprints on my heart.
And now, as a mother myself, I see pieces of all of them in the way I love, lead, nurture, encourage, and show up for my own children.
Today I celebrate all mothers: future mothers, hopeful mothers, grandmothers, bonus moms, and the women who pour love into the next generation every single day. Your influence matters more than you know.
Happy Mother’s Day.

Teacher Appreciation Week is one of the best weeks of the year at our school. And, let me tell you, with it falling in the month of May, we are all barely hanging on. It is much needed.
I ran across an article talking about ID.me and the deals that they have for teachers. I already had an ID.me account, so this was a no-brainer. And, of course, I tried it out to make sure it was legitimate! Even better, these deals aren’t just for this week! They are ongoing!

Making space in the bathroom now that my college kids are home! I want them to be able to unpack and feel at home, so I packed up my things and moved back into the primary bathroom! And I was HAPPY to do it, because that means that they are home for a while!

The best thing about The Blue Devils spring camp and a red-eye flight home is catching dinner at a restaurant in Napa! A pour straight from a Napa winery down the road never hits wrong! I’ll miss this next year!
May and December are in a battle for which month can be the most busy! My week is jam packed! Here’s what’s happening!

I love the first day of a new month, and especially when it’s May.
Today came in loud and stormy, with the kind of thunder that jolts you straight up in bed at 5:25am wondering what just happened. A rainy mess, but somehow still the perfect start.
The last month of school. Warmer days ahead. Pool time on the horizon. And both of my kids back home.
May just feels like a deep breath.
A little slower, a little sweeter, and full of the good stuff.
Welcome, May!
It’s International Dance Day
My daughter, Piper, took her very first dance class at just 18 months old, and from that moment on, it was game over for all of us.
By 1st grade, she was dancing competitively, and when I say it took over our lives, I mean everyone’s. Long nights, early mornings, and by 4th grade, 21 hours a week in the studio. We lived out of suitcases, chased competitions every weekend, and spent more time in airports than I can count. She even asked to be homeschooled so she could dance more. That’s where we held the line.
Did she sacrifice parts of a “typical” childhood? Absolutely.
But what she gained is something you can’t teach any other way: discipline, resilience, time management, body awareness, and the kind of strength that comes from navigating hard moments and coming out stronger.
And now, watching her continue to grow and perform, and seeing those early years show up in everything she does, is just incredible.
As her mom, I will never get tired of watching her dance.
Happy International Dance Day! Enjoy this montage of Piper’s solos throughout the years!
I used to share my life online and then one day, I just stopped.
Not because I didn’t love it, but because life got full. Kids got older. My career grew. And somewhere along the way, I hit pause.
But I never stopped living a life worth sharing.
So here I am starting again.
Color guard director. DCI mom. Just figuring it out as I go.
If you’ve ever stepped away from something you loved. I see you.

I’ve been off campus for two weeks traveling to Winter Guard International World Championships for both color guard and percussion.
While I was gone, I left my students with a project I knew would take time, but what I didn’t anticipate was coming back to 70 of them waiting for me.
It would’ve been easy to grade for completion.
But I didn’t. I opened every single one.
And I sat there, reading their thoughts, their ideas, their creativity… completely inspired.
These students aren’t just learning, they’re imagining, creating, and designing what comes next.
They are the future. And it’s in really good hands.
