👉 The administration has announced two big changes at the federal Department of Education that could directly impact children with disabilities and their families: 1) the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, which manages $15 billion in funding for students with disabilities and enforces compliance with the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act, will move to the Department of Health and Human Services; 2) the Office for Civil Rights, which enforces anti-discrimination laws in schools, including many disability discrimination issues, will move to the Justice Department.
👉 We do expect some legal challenges to these changes, so stay tuned for updates.
