It's one of those moments that is both so stinking sad - to see all the and but also to see how the roots and vines have already begun to swallow it up.

It feels like Spring is here again! And the epic battle outside my window is over at last. Wind vs figwort in the battle for the raindrops.
Those raindrops clung to the Figwort for days. Little disco balls of light and water, brightening up the glum and blustery winter landscape. It also got me thinking about Spring and about last Fall and thinking about how those raindrops are proof of at least one more reason to leave things up in the garden for winter: winter magic. The other reasons? For the birds and the bees - they are providing cover for the soil, cover for the birds, seeds for the birds, places for invertebrates to nest. So. Many. Good. Things.

I came across Wild and Domesticated by Wendell Berry and just had to share a snippet. So true. So serious. Which is why I am also sharing Douglas's plea - so true and some much appreciated light humor for some dark environmental times. .
You can find the rest of Wild and Domesticated at Orion Magazine's website

Zero to One! Imagination to Creation. So when asked to design a pizza oven and fireplace with complete creative freedom this is what can happen. With help from my friend, Hendrick , inspired by the many beehive huts all around Ireland, this is my idea of functional art.
No machinery was used at any stage of the project and all stones were placed and brought on site by hand paying homage to my neolithic heritage and craft.

It's very difficult to not want to elect this guy as Employee of the Month, every month. He kills it on the work-life balance, living the simple, minimalist life where you only have the most important things with you at all times. He brings those principles to work with him every day.

It might sound like an odd thing to miss but Nettles are one of the things I miss the most being away from Ireland
Nettles are so abundant and are a great asset to gardeners.

The cork tree in Cork will always be my favorite.
This is truly fascinating to watch. All the more reason to make sure there is room for these clever bees in your landscape.
