We’re dedicated to getting as many people on the water as possible regardless of financial ability.

Keeping sailing accessible is the cornerstone to our mission, which is so heavily embodied in our support for the NHS Sailing Team.
We keep high school sailing accessible by providing the boats, sails, coach boats, coaching personnel, and gear to the team so joining the team is barrier free.
With our new enhanced scholarship for Whalers, sailing team members can now sail for only $100 for all 8 weeks of summer programming! Become a Whalers Sailor today!

The All Island Race Team for optis and 420s has been pivotal for the advancement of island youth racers. It has helped create community across sailors from all three sailing organizations on island (NCS, NYC, and GHYC) and has helped to build a supportive and competitive environment for young racers since it’s development in the 2010s.
It is the starting point for many who continue racing in high school, college, and in the Island weekend fleets.

It all started in 1994 when a group of island educators, sailors, and community leaders believed sailing should be accessible to all Nantucket youth. Beginning with a small program at Polpis Harbor, NCS quickly earned national recognition for excellence in community sailing.
Over the decades, the organization has expanded its programs, fleet, and impact—introducing thousands of young sailors to the water and creating signature events like Nantucket Race Week. Today, NCS serves more than 1,000 youth annually while remaining deeply committed to environmental stewardship and its founding mission of community access through sailing.
