In August 1962, best friends Philly and Noogie escape their small farming town for the bright promise of Ocean Drive, South Carolina. A borrowed Mustang, pinky swears, and a legendary s**g dancer named Dolvett Darling turn one reckless summer into a moment that will shatter a friendship-and change everything.

In October 2000, Philly's daughters return to Ocean Drive for Save Our S**g and a celebration honoring their late father. Instead, they find their mother and her car gone but her packed bags left behind. And as they search for her, the truth about that long-ago summer begins to surface.

A compelling novel about friendship, betrayal, and the secrets women carry across generations.

Bio: Eliza Callahan is the pen name of authors Kim Wright and Erika Marks, who have published over a dozen novels between them.

Meet both authors at Chapin Library MB on August 27, 2026, at 1:30. Refreshments and Conversation. Register at calendar.chapinlibrary.org

It’s not hard…it’s summer reading! 😉

Chapin Memorial Library had a record year for summer readers! Youth Services had 510 young readers hit their summer reading milestones — 125 of which were in the grade 6-12 category (more than TWICE as many as last year!)

Participants read a combined total of 392,460 minutes, which is roughly 6,541 hours. That is a LOT of books (and prizes) for one summer!

Thanks to everyone who participated. We hope to see you next year!
