Please be aware of the updated Horry County Schools bus policy, which requires an adult to be present at the bus stop for the afternoon drop-off of all Child Development, Kindergarten, and First Grade students.

If an adult is not present, the student will be transported back to Burgess Elementary School in accordance with district policy.

The safety of our students is always our top priority, and we are grateful for the partnership and support of our amazing Burgess community as we work together to keep every Sea Turtle safe.

This past school year, HCS students read 68 million pages, and they're still going strong. They've already logged around 900 thousand pages this summer, and there's plenty of summer left. Don't forget to participate in our Summer Reading Challenge and log your pages in Beanstack ASAP!

Summer break is in full swing, but we're already getting ready for the new school year!

New this year, we're bringing our Back to School Bash to FOUR locations. Parents, mark your calendars!

🎒 Carolina Forest Rec Center – Aug. 1, 2026 | 11 a.m.
🎒 North Strand Rec Center – Aug. 8, 2026 | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
🎒 South Strand Rec Center – Aug. 15, 2026 | 11 a.m.
🎒 JRF Community Center – Aug. 15, 2026 | 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Children in attendance will receive a clear backpack filled with school supplies while supplies last.
