Our state needs leaders that would stand up like these 13 did in Colorado!
"Surgeons-in-training cut open live animals to remove organs and perform procedures. Then staff kill the animals. But 13 state legislators want to see that practice stopped. In a letter sent last Thursday, the senators and representatives urge CU Anschutz Chancellor Donald Elliman to “employ modern training methods in order to benefit both patients and animals.” The letter was organized by Senate President Pro Tempore Cathy Kipp and signed by House Majority Leader Monica Duran, among others.
The letter builds on years of work by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a nonprofit medical ethics group, to convince CU Anschutz to follow the example set by most universities and hospitals across the country. According to the group’s ongoing survey, 80 percent of surgery programs teach using only cadavers or advanced simulators modeled on human anatomy and physiology. That list includes the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, Yale University, and hundreds of other institutions.
Public records obtained by the Physicians Committee from CU Anschutz show the medical center used live pigs in training exercises in May 2023, 2024, and 2025. Plans for this year are unknown.
“Colorado patients deserve doctors trained on human anatomy,” said Sen. Kipp. “If Harvard and Stanford can train surgeons without harming animals, CU can too.”
13 State Legislators Call on CU Anschutz to Replace Animals in Deadly Surgery Course DENVER, Colo.—Every May, the University of Colorado Anschutz conducts a controversial exercise increasingly out of step with most medical centers: Surgeons-in-training cut open live animals to remove organs and perform procedures.

Thank you Switch4Good 💚
We ALL need to keep our elected decision makers aware that they must represent ALL constituents and they must promote real health, environmental care, and the protection of children and animals.
"Food is a political act, and our choices impact the lives of others—whether we are conscious of this or not. While we have been told that dairy benefits our bodies, the serious social repercussions far outweigh any nutrients found in this food (which are easily obtained elsewhere).
Sixty-five percent of the world’s population is intolerant to cow’s milk with disproportionately higher rates (up to 95 percent!) among Black individuals, Asians, Native Americans, and Latino populations. Despite this, the American government and even some nonprofits promote dairy to the public as a healthy, necessary food.
This is an act of dietary racism, and Switch4Good is committed to putting an end to it."
Food Justice Many people can’t fully digest cow’s milk, and government-backed promotion of dairy forces a product that makes millions sick — a form of dietary racism that hits communities of color hardest.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at Voters For Animal Rights! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
As a q***r-led organization, Pride is personal to us, not just a celebration, but a reminder of why we do this work. And this year, that reminder feels more urgent than ever.
We believe, to our core, that oppression is oppression regardless of who it targets. The same logic that allows one group of beings to be exploited, dismissed, or erased is the logic that threatens q***r people, trans people, BIPOC people, disabled people, immigrants, and so many others. These are not separate struggles. They are the same struggle, wearing different faces.
At VFAR, we don't see animal rights as a cause disconnected from human rights, we see them as inseparable. When we fight for the most vulnerable among us, we are practicing the same muscle of moral imagination that every justice movement requires. Empathy, once stretched, doesn't snap back.
We see what is happening right now. The attacks on q***r and trans communities are real. The rollback of protections for marginalized people is real. The attempt to make entire communities feel unsafe, unseen, or unwelcome is real. We refuse to look away from any of it.
So this , we stand with our LGBTQIA+ family, with all people facing the targeting of this political moment, and with every being who deserves to live free from fear and cruelty.
The arc of justice is long, but we believe it bends—and we intend to bend it together.
With love and solidarity,
Julie Cappiello, VFAR President

A major milestone in the effort to wind down animal testing!
This week, another 135 beagles will leave Ridglan Farms, the Wisconsin facility that bred dogs for laboratory research and testing. More than 1,500 dogs have already been transferred through a partnership led by the Center for a Humane Economy and rescue organizations.
As these dogs begin their journey to foster homes and families, lawmakers are advancing legislation to end taxpayer-funded dog testing and expand the use of modern alternatives.
The rescue of the Ridglan beagles is helping drive a broader transformation in science and public policy.

For decades, the U.S. military has used animals in medical training exercises—inflicting gunshot wounds, burns, stab wounds, and other trauma on pigs, goats, and other animals before killing them when the exercises end.
We are calling on the Secretary of Defense to:
End all invasive live animal trauma training
Replace animal use with validated human-relevant technologies
Establish a transparent timeline for full implementation
Our service members deserve the best training available—and animals deserve protection from needless suffering.
We are gathering signatures now to send to the Secretary of Defense. Add your signature TODAY!

Somewhere in the United States right now, a mother dog is spending her entire life on wire flooring in an enclosure barely large enough to turn around. She's bred repeatedly with little veterinary care, no chance to run or feel grass beneath her paws. Right now, this is completely legal.
The Puppy Protection Act, H.R. 2253/S. 4437, is our best chance to change that. Humane World for Animals is pushing to make it law, but we need your support to drive meaningful, lasting change. I
