Lots of good stuff going on lately! After a long wait, we recently took delivery of our new, custom built Rousseau Metals hose assembly workstation. It is finished in none other than “KPC” blue! We are working hard to maximize our inventory, efficiency and overall organization and cleanliness in the shop. We want to be your one stop location for nearly any hose assembly to get you back to work quickly. On the counter you’ll see we got right into it with a 50 assembly order of quality, USA made NRP Jones DOT hose assemblies. We stock many different types of Hydraulic, DOT and industrial hose products, adapters and quick couplers. We sell to retail and offer wholesale discounts for large orders and to resellers. We also save part numbers and build kits, so that as a customer you can place an order over the phone and we will have it ready for you to pick up, almost always the same day. We represent some of the best domestically manufactured brands in the industry, like Parker And NRP Jones. Thanks for following along!

We tried our luck with a second helper tonight. He made it about 2 miles further down I78 than the last copilot. Really struggling to find good help these days! Maybe it was the music?? We’ll keep trying.

Seems we’ve been bombarded with emergency repair work lately. We’re doing our very best to keep our local industries turning out products. We find ourselves working in steel mills, foundries, paper mills, box shops, printing plants and all other kinds of manufacturing operations. The components below are critical parts to a printing operation. The large 28” diameter sheave / flywheel was badly worn and needed re-machined for a brake clutch to grab the faces. Using every inch of swing, we could have barely slid a leaf in between the part and the lathe ways. The large tapered shaft needed creatively repaired for a rotary swivel. Lastly the large cast iron bearing/drive housing needed serious journal repairs. This was the most challenging, and we couldn’t have gotten it all done without the expert help from Fortitude Welding & Fabrication LLC to help us get the casting welded up. We used premium Ni-55 high nickel wire to build up the worn areas before setting up in the lathe to machine for new bearings. All of this we managed to turn around inside of 48 hours. When it comes to servicing our loyal customers, we don’t fool around. We understand the need for “hot rush” work when there is a whole department standing around waiting on repairs. We strive to be the best in the business, not the cheapest. Thanks to everyone for following along! -KPC.

What a crazy week it has been, but what a blessing it is to be so busy! Check out the pictures below of some of the carnage from the week. What started as a 2 cylinder repair order for a steel mill outage turned into 9 major repair jobs with no time to prepare. At least one of the cylinders had a catastrophic failure, and since they are all connected in parallel, the metal pieces in the system had a field day inside the rest of the system. We had just 4 days to pickup, disassemble, repair, test and deliver. We machined new rods (3-1/2” and 110mm) and 14 new steel pistons. We honed the tubes, repaired and machined new glands and cushion-stop assemblies. Since these were originally designed in 1977, most parts are now obsolete, everything was custom made. The seals are made from high-heat resistant Teflon. Fortunately we had all of the materials on the shelf, and were able to pull out all the stops to stay on schedule. It took a tremendous effort from our entire team, and as always, they came through to provide quality repairs. Thank you to Allegheny York for machining the custom metric seals for us with a 16 hour turn around! Thank you to our customers who trust us with their high priority projects, and thank you to our whole team who makes it all possible.

What an amazing blessing it is to be genuinely tired from having a shop full of tasks we have worked and prayed so hard for. Today as we take some time to reflect, we remember that there are two main reasons why we can enjoy the fruits of our labor. First is that God has continued to use to bless us in so many ways, and secondly because so many selfless men and women have sacrificed their lives to keep us, and the greatest country on the planet safe and free. We are indebted to them, and their families who have shouldered the pain of their loss. We are proud to be American, and proud to call the USA our home, because there is no other place on earth like it!

More emergency work for a long time customer of ours. Our friends at RGM Transport had jobs lined up for one of their tri-axle lowboys, but the failed hydraulic cylinders had other plans. We worked through the night to get the cylinders unhooked and pulled out of the “neck”. This is always a challenge due to how they’re engineered. We disassembled, rebuilt and pressure tested them next day, having all components in stock to rebuild quickly. Then reinstalled them in the trailer, topped off on oil and tested again before returning to customer just inside of 48 hours. We are willing to pull out all the stops for our loyal customers when they need us. We have learned through the years that building good working relationships is the most valuable part of running and growing a business for the long-haul. We believe that our true value is in the quality of service we provide, and our best customers want nothing less. We are so incredibly blessed to have been provided with a full schedule of work, even if it means working around the clock from time to time.

Just a quick video for today turning the O.D. Threads on the custom press cylinder we’re building from scratch. Both ends of this tube get threaded for the glands to thread on. We have highly talented machinist’s here at KPC that turn out top quality work, without exception. Hydraulic cylinders aren’t something we just “kinda do”, we are a full service shop with the right machines, experience and attitudes to provide the best service around.

We had a new helper tonite for second shift, but unfortunately we caught him sleeping on the job the first day! We think we’ll let it slide this time. 😉

We’re working on some pretty cool things here in the shop lately and we are going to try to keep you updated through this whole project. Below is the start of a very large custom hydraulic press cylinder we are machining/fabricating from scratch. It takes up almost every inch of the lathe bed. To help put it in perspective, the steel mounting plate is 3-1/2” thick and about 2’ square. We start with all USA made raw materials and machine every component in house. It takes a while to saw through an 11” solid round bar, but the old DoAll saw still gets it done. Stay tuned for more progress! Thanks for following along, we’re beyond grateful for all of our followers, customers and employees.
