7-year-old runner crushes state record FLORENCE — A chip off the old block, 7-year-old Yate Hirbo now is a state record holder.

The American Countess is coming! We’re excited to announce the arrival of three paddlewheel steamboats in downtown Florence this month. The American Countess will arrive in port tomorrow morning and begin tours of the area around 8:45am. It’s sister ships, the American Queen and the American Duchess, will follow on November 4th and November 17th disembarking generally around the same time. Come see these majestic paddleboats in the marina at McFarland Park and help welcome our visitors to historic downtown Florence and the beautiful Shoals area!

Just popping in to say hi! We want to introduce ourselves. The Local Shoals is the new social hub where shoals locals can find out about everything happening in the shoals area. Our goal is to make local living lively again by promoting the happening of the Shoals communities. We recognize that our areas thrive on togetherness and we can’t wait to pioneer the passion for local living again. Tourists LOVE our area - and we should too!
