Hi Friends,

Blown away! Thank you so very much to each one of you who has donated towards our vet bill today. We had $450 paid on it today with some of you stopping by our Founder's home and donating cash towards it. As of now, our current balance is $440.32 with another one of our sweet babies going to the vet tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow, our Founder will stop by the vet and pay some more money on it.

Nutmeg continues to get better. She has eaten three times today, each time nudging her foster Mommy to let her know her belly was empty. And each time she ate a good big. We are so incredibly excited to see this.

She is still pretty congested and continues to sneeze a lot, although there is improvement today. Her eyes also continue to run. Again, less than yesterday, which is a great indication that the eye ointment is working as well.

So far, the antibiotics are holding out. We probably have enough to get us through the next few days.

This is why it is important to keep our vet bill paid down or paid in full. We don't like having to stress about paying on the balance, hoping we can get it paid down so the vet will see our babies again. When something happens, we want to be able to send them to the vet without thinking twice about it.

If you can help, we would greatly appreciate it. We have a few ways to donate: PayPal ([email protected]), Venmo (, please use the account listed under business) and CashApp ($CaringAngels2022).

COURTESY POST

Hi Friends,

We were contacted by a member of our community about this sweet, gorgeous baby. It was found last night, in the storm, drenched behind the Muscle Shoals Walmart.

We and the finder would love to reunite this precious one with its family if it has one. If you are missing this baby or know someone who is, please have them reach out to us. We would greatly appreciate it.

*Baby will be scanned for a chip soon. If no chip found, you must be able to provide proof of ownership by telling us the gender of the kitten and if it has any distinguishing marks.*

Hi Friends,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the precious little one who came to us yesterday afternoon.

Her name is Nutmeg. After her arrival yesterday, she went through our intake protocol. She was given dewormer, half a capstar pill to kill the fleas and we started her on antibiotics. After the first dose of antibiotics, the infection started coming out of her. She really didn't feel well. She slept all day and most of the night.

Her poor eyes had ran so much, they were matted. Her foster Mommy cleaned them and put Terramycin on them. All throughout the day yesterday, her foster Mommy had to wipe them about every half hour.

She ate a little bit yesterday, but not a whole lot which is to be expected given that she was a hot mess. Her foster Mommy syringe fed her every couple of hours.

She had a good night last night. Her foster Mommy was up every few hours to make sure she was okay.

This morning, she had another round of antibiotics. Her eyes have been cleaned, Terramycin applied. Although they are still runny, they are getting better.

She is eating a little more today. Her foster Mommy is still syringe feeding her and she is drinking a lot of water.

She is also very active today. All she wants to do is play, play, play. Her playtime is limited but her cuddles with her foster Mommy are unlimited 😍

It was 8:15 p.m. when the shelter's "most dangerous cat" finally touched a human... and the man lying on the concrete floor began to cry silently into his sleeve.
✨
No one wanted cage 47.
You could hear the meowing and hissing even before you reached the corridor.
Dozens of cats calling for attention.
For food.
For affection.
For someone to notice them.
But cage 47 was different.
Silence.
Total silence.
This silence made people feel more uneasy than any hiss or growl.
And the warning sign on the gate didn't help:
"Aggressive.
No entry alone."
Most volunteers hurried past without even looking inside.
The few who peered through the glass immediately backed away.
Because Shadow looked terrifying.
A huge black cat with torn ears, old scars across his body, and yellow eyes that never seemed to blink.
He stayed curled in the back corner of the enclosure, 24 hours a day.
Stiff.
Frozen.
As if even breathing too loudly could bring danger.
If someone opened the gate too quickly, Shadow would fling himself against the far wall.
If a hand reached toward him, he would tremble uncontrollably.
If a man raised his voice anywhere in the building, Shadow would sometimes panic so badly he would hide for hours.
But people didn't see fear.
They saw claws.
Scars.
Sharp eyes.
And a thick file nearly two inches thick.
"Severely withdrawn."
"Unpredictable behavior."
"Possible abuse."
Three shelters had already transferred him because nobody knew how to help him safely.
The county wanted one final evaluation before making a "final decision."
Everyone at the shelter knew what that meant.
Then Mark arrived.
He wasn't like the television animal experts.
No dramatic techniques.
No endless treats.
No attempts to force trust.
Just a tired-looking man in his forties wearing old work boots and carrying a paperback novel under his arm.
The shelter manager met him outside cage 47.
"You need to understand," she warned quietly, "he's dangerous."
Mark looked through the gate.
Shadow was already trembling.
Not hissing.
Not growling.
Just shaking.
Mark noticed immediately.
"Who hurt him?" he asked softly.
πŸˆβ€β¬›
The manager blinked.
"We don't know his history."
Mark kept staring at the cat.
"Yes," he whispered. "He knows."
The next part confused everyone.
Because Mark didn't approach Shadow.
He didn't crouch down.
He didn't offer food.
He didn't try to pet him.
Instead...
He entered the enclosure.
Closed the gate behind him.
Placed a small pillow on the concrete floor.
And lay down.
Just like that.
A paperback book in his hands.
His back turned toward the cat.
The shelter staff panicked.
"Sirβ€”"
"You can'tβ€”"
"He might attack you!"
Mark simply raised a finger.
"He won't."
Shadow remained frozen in the corner.
His eyes wide.
His chest rising and falling rapidly.
Every muscle in his body tense.
Five minutes passed.
Then ten.
Then thirty.
Nothing happened.
Mark quietly read his book.
He never stared directly at Shadow.
He never demanded trust.
The volunteers gathered outside the enclosure.
"What is he doing?" one whispered.
The shelter manager answered honestly.
"I don't think he's trying to train him."
Hours passed.
The shelter closed for the night.
And Mark stayed.
Reading beneath the dim fluorescent lights.
Around midnight, Shadow finally moved.
One paw forward.
Then another.
Tiny cautious steps.
His body remained low against the floor as he crept closer.
Then suddenly...
A loud metallic crash echoed through the hallway.
Shadow panicked instantly.
He bolted backward, slamming into the enclosure wall.
The staff watching winced.
But Mark didn't move.
Didn't flinch.
Didn't speak.
He simply turned another page.
And that confused Shadow more than anything.
Because fear was always followed by punishment.
Pain.
Violence.
But this human?
Nothing.
For the first time, Shadow looked at Mark instead of the exit.
His trembling slowly eased.
An hour later, the shelter director checked the security cameras.
Then she froze.
"Come here," she whispered.
Three employees gathered around the monitor.
Nobody spoke.
Shadow crossed the enclosure.
Slowly.
Carefully.
Terrified every second.
But he wasn't hiding anymore.
Now he stood inches away from Mark.
Watching the man lying defenseless on the floor.
Mark didn't turn around.
Didn't even look.
Then...
Shadow lowered his head.
Very gently...
And rubbed his cheek against Mark's boot.
A hush fell over the room.
One volunteer covered her mouth and began crying.
Because everyone understood what they were seeing.
This wasn't obedience.
This wasn't training.
This was the first moment in years that cat had chosen connection instead of survival.
Mark slowly closed his book.
Carefully.
Without turning toward him.
And everyone watching saw his shoulders shake once.
Then again.
The shelter manager realized he was crying.
The next morning, employees expected Shadow to retreat back into the corner.
Instead, they found something nobody thought possible.
The giant black cat was asleep.
Curled beside Mark on the concrete floor.
For the first time since arriving at the shelter...
Shadow looked peaceful.
Weeks later, more details about his past surfaced.
Severe neglect.
Repeated abuse.
Months locked alone in dark spaces.
Humans teaching him that every hand meant pain.
Suddenly everything made sense.
He had never been aggressive.
Only terrified.
And terror, left alone long enough, can start looking exactly like violence.
Six months later, a photograph from the shelter went viral online.
Not because it showed a dramatic rescue.
Not because the cat performed tricks.
The image was simple.
Mark lying on the living room floor reading a book.
Shadow asleep beside him with one paw resting gently across Mark's chest.
The caption underneath reached millions:
β€œSome broken things do not need to be fixed first.
Sometimes they only need someone willing to sit beside them long enough to prove the danger is over.” 🐾❀️
