Our young crew headed to Ames to sort cattle, sheep, goats and pigs today. They learned, gained experience and talked about goals and dreams on the way back.

Thank you to Iowa State, the AnSci Department, Lisa Peterson, Will Taylor and everyone who brought livestock in for us to judge!

Its been a very busy but very good few days for the Muscatine FFA!

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ–Friday June 5th, some of the livestock judging crew headed to the Neil and Kitty Conover Livestock Judging Contest at Iowa State. Thanks to the Conover family, Will Taylor and all the crew for a great contest to learn from. The team was 7th Advanced team in a very stacked division. Muskies on the team were Bailey Danner, Savannah Finley and Hank Elam (Gage from Wilton was also with)

๐Ÿ—ฃMonday June 8th, a few of the newly elected chapter officers attended C**T (chapter officer leadership training). Thank you to WACO and the State & District officer teams for hosting. On the way home we talked about some of the great ideas of how to improve the chapter. Officers in attendance were: Madi Herlein, Violet Poci, Abby Schell, Hadley Torrance, Emersen Franke, and Jazzlyn Curtis.

Tuesday June 9th was a packed day of showcasing learning! Thank you to Kirkwood Community College for hosting Livestock Judging, State Horse Judging, State Floriculture, State Nursary Landscaping.

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ…Open Livestock Judging: Bailey Danner and Hank Elam helped themselves to a 7th place finish.

๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ…State Horse Judging: Gold Rating, 12th High Team. Individually Savannah Finley was 7th overall! With Savannah on the team was Jaylynn Goddard and Mady Wyatt.

๐ŸŒน๐Ÿชป๐Ÿ… State Floriculture: Gold Rating, RESERVE STATE CHAMPIONS. High Team in Corsage, 2nd Team in Team and ID. Kensley is high individual in Corsage and 10th Overall Individual. The team was comprised of Kensley Paul, Eladiee Gaucin, Lila Wall and Ari Lee.

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ…State Nursary Landscaping: Gold Rating, STATE CHAMPIONS. High Team in General Knowledge, Landscape Estimation and ID and 2nd in Equipment Opperation. Dylan Randel is your high individual overall! Chevelle Rider is 4th, Sam Potter 10th overall and Coen Navarro rounds out the team at 16th.

4๏ธโƒฃ This is now the 4th team Muscatine FFA has qualified to represent the state of Iowa at National FFA Convention in October!

Now regroup for State Livestock Judging on Thursday! Whew.

It may be "summertime" but the learning doesn't stop!

We have many contests and activities this summer, particularly the next week!

1st celebration of the summer-

The Muscatine FFA Vet Science Team was named 3rd High Team and Gold Rating at the state contest!

Congratulations to team members Becca Romer, Lila Wall, Coen Navarro and Bella Nobel!

Individually, Becca was 8th and Coen 10th.

The Muscatine FFA was well represented today in Ames on the Iowa State campus for a couple of State CDE Contests.

The Meats Judging Team earned a 3rd High Team Overall! Every member of the team was in the top 16 overall individually! Coen Navarro 5th, Carson Schroeder 10th, Finley Torrance 15th and Sam Potter 16th. They quality and yield graded cattle carcasses, placed classes of carcasses, wholesale and retail cuts, and completed an ID of 25 retail cuts listing species, primal, name and cookery. All team members had perfect scores in their formulation quiz!

The Ag Mechanics team (Nathan Scadden, Josh Koch, Will Leavens) claimed a Gold rating in the state ag mech contest. As part of their rotation of stations, they participated in some welding, electrical work, worked on machines and took a test.

Special thanks to Buds Meats, HyVee Muscatine, Fareway Muscatine, Dave Tometich, the Ag Learning Center and everyone else that helped us prepare!

A few members of the Meat Judging crew had a nice little "tune up" this past weekend at the contest hosted by Edgewood Locker and Iowa State.

Coen Navarro was high individual overall and Sam Potter was 2nd right behind him! Carson Schroeder rounded out the team. Together, they were high team overall.

This crew, along with some others, are gearing up for the state FFA meats contest in about a week!

On Tuesday, May 5th some of the horse and livestock judging crew headed to a Ottumwa to compete in the Gold Buckles, judging contests.

The goal was to learn and prepare for the upcoming state contests and we certainly learned a lot!

Susan Clark Junio High Middle School student Bailey Danner was 8th Overall Individual in the Livestock contest.

The horse judging team (Robin Paglucia, Savannah Finley, Jaylynn Goddard, Mady Wyatt, Gianna Rizzo) was 7th overall team.

Thanks to everyone that worked on setting up, hosting, scoring, and bringing animals in.

The neighborhood friendly Muscatine FFA members had a busy day harvesting and trimming trees, wreath making, learning to make bows and dress poinsettias!
