Fitness and education are and always will be essential components of who I am. Up until now, this page has been dedicated solely to those things.
The reality is that there is so much more to life and more to me that I would like to share with the world.
After all, balance is key, right?
So, for those of you who don’t know him, meet my one-eyed pirate cat, Ringo. 🐈⬛ 🏴☠️
I rescued this furry guy a little over 11 years ago when I was still in grad school. He’s got one hell of a personality and has been through a lot in his life— like being raised with various other pets, moving across the country, overcoming focal seizures (daily meds now control these), and we had to have his right eye removed a few years back.
Nonetheless, he approaches each day with love, curiosity, and playfulness. I think all of us would benefit and make the world a better place by doing the same. 🐾

If you don’t skip leg day, you’re likely on top of training your hamstrings, quads, glutes, and calves. 🦵🏼
That’s all great, but don’t neglect your tibialis anterior.
This muscle runs down the front of your lower leg and is often forgotten until you experience shin splints.
Training the tib anterior can help reduce the risk of getting those nasty shin splints and also offer many other benefits like:
•Improved balance/stability/athletic performance
•Increased strength in the knees and ankles
•Better ankle mobility (huge for squat depth💰)

Planks are excellent for building core strength (in addition to back, glutes, hamstrings, and shoulders) without putting excessive strain on the spine and hip flexors.
Like any other exercise, they can be scaled to meet the needs of one’s fitness level. Unfortunately, they’re frequently written off as “basic” or “too easy” and are left out of programs because of a lack of understanding of how to properly progress them.

Level up your face pull game! 💪🏼
If you’ve ever worked with me as a client, you know how much I love face pulls, as they are great for building the upper back (a weak area for many).
As with any other exercise, changing the set-up/angle can bias specific areas.
Here are a few variations to keep your face pull game on point:
1️⃣ Eye level (traditional) face pull
-rear delts, rhomboids, mid trap, rotator cuff
2️⃣High pulley face pull
-rear delts bias
3️⃣ Low pulley face pull
-Mid & lower trap bias
4️⃣ Seated face pull
-increased stability= heavier loading/isolation for rear delts, rhomboids, mid traps, rotator cuff
