Halloween is a big ole deal: it has become the second most observed festivity in the calendar year, closely trailing Christmas. This so-called “celebration of the dead” generates a tremendous amount of business and injects a whopping $6.66 billion into the domestic economy. Collectively, American households spend over $3 billion on decorations and fake spiderwebs, $2 billion on scary or sexy costumes, $950 million on candy and $710 million on bail bonds from malicious mischief and repairs to damaged property as a result of rituals, seances and ill cast spells ()

Teufelsberg (“Devil’s Mountain”) is a man-made hill in the enchanted Grunewald Forest in Berlin, known for its urban-decayed and abandoned Cold War-era surveillance facility. Composed of 75 million cubic yards of rubble and debris from World War II, the Field Station Berlin site sits on top of the incomplete N**i military-technical college, Wehrtechnische Fakultät. In the 1950s, jumper and architect Heini Klopfer built a ski ramp and bleachers on the side of Teufelsberg, which was eventually removed by the US National Security Agency () due to signal interference during the construction of a state-of-the-art reconnaissance listening station. The top-secret site became active in July 1961 and was heavily guarded and highly restricted. It is speculated that the NSA excavated a shaft and complex network of tunnels from the enclosed antenna structure of the inflated dome down to experimental laboratories in the N**i facility below. The site has since been abandoned and is now revered as a bona fide street art gallery, maintained and occupied by an unidentified, private collective that coordinates and patrols the facility and charges visitors for access. @ NSA Field Station
