When some of the wood areas are in great condition I love to pair it with painted sections. My absolute favorite way to do this it to look over the piece while I am prepping it and determine where any damage is. This oak chest had seem better days but really came back to life with a bit of TLC.
(Commissioned. Not available. But maybe I could do something similar for you!)

How kind Lost & Found Mercantile is to say such nice things about me!!!

Before and after. A pair of these came in to be lightened up!

Here it is, Friday again.
How was your week?
Gotcha some weekend plans??
My week has been interesting (as most are if I can help it!), with a few ups and downs.
📚 the lovely person who I’m doing the bookcase for has returned from a little journey and came to see it. She lit up! The dimensional books were a hit and she spoke about it becoming an heirloom. This is the third furniture piece I did for her and she left saying she wants to think about what to do next!
🦆 A very unique little oak side table has been quietly healing, the bandages and clamps have been removed. 🪶 it’s primed and first color has been giving me direction so that transformation can come together.
🧽 I rarely sand furniture if I can help it. But an Ethan Allan coffee table walked in with its curvy little legs and spoke about coming out of it’s dark past and better fitting in with the family, while letting some personality show.
🖼️ OH, the biggest project this week is the 4x4 (feet, not inches! Canvas, not vehicle!)
Abstract floral that will be hung in quite a place of honor.
…so, you see, I like to stay busy. I love creating for folks who appreciate the way I transform things.
🍃🌸🍃 What’s that in the photo you say? Oh, just one of the many formerly brown things I have changed.
Happy weekend y’all! ✌️

Working with previously painted furniture can be a real gamble. I blended some vibrancy and added William Morris art to the sides of this desk. Stripping back the top was a challenge but it proved to be worth the effort!
This was a second project for this client and I’ve received several referrals through them.
I am grateful for the many wonderful folks I have had the honor to paint for.

Working on something a bit different…
Here’s a peek.

Departing the studio today is this formerly brown Pennsylvania House chest of drawers which has a new serenity look. Gives it a bit more personality don’t you think?
This was a commission job, not available for sale. If you would like something painted let’s talk about it!
