🚨 TRADER JOE’S OPENING DATE 🚨

Word on the street is that Trader Joe’s is planning to open their Myrtle Beach, SC location sometime in September. That’s the rumor making the rounds, anyway.

Here’s what we know for sure. Construction is officially complete. The building is finished, and all that’s left is for Trader Joe’s to stock the shelves and announce the big day.

One thing is certain: you’ll finally be enjoying your favorite Trader Joe’s staples right here in Myrtle Beach soon. The wait is almost over.

For your safety, please stay out of the water the next couple days.

We're going to dodge a meteorological bullet. Erin will not bring high wind or heavy rain to the Grand Strand but the ocean will be rockin'. Big waves and strong rip currents will make swimming dangerous. Enjoy the nice weather at the beach this week but respect the ocean!

Several people have asked about the dark patches in the ocean off Surfside. What you’re seeing are bait balls…large, tightly packed schools of small fish. When threatened by predators, these fish instinctively group together in dense, swirling formations to confuse attackers and increase their chances of survival.

While they may look fascinating, it’s best to keep your distance. Sharks and other predators are often nearby, using these bait balls as a buffet. Thanks for the photo Emily Coen!

1 pm - Now we have CH-47 Chinook helicopters hauling water to douse the ongoing wildfire near Carolina Forest. Thanks to their efforts, and those of the firefighters on the ground, significant progress is being made to contain the fire. As of now, no structures are in danger. Video via Cindy Raymond.
