Our early summer lawn care treatment round is underway across central Indiana - and we want to explain exactly what that means for clients on our program, and what people not yet enrolled are missing.

Early summer treatment focuses on two things: eliminating the persistent, hard-to-control w**ds that pushed through or were missed in earlier rounds, and positioning your turf to stay healthy through Indiana's hottest, driest stretch.

Some w**ds, like ground ivy, wild violet, and knotw**d, are notoriously resistant. They do not respond well to spring applications. Early summer is when they become more treatable, and targeting them now keeps your turf clean through the fall. This round is also when we are assessing each property for heat stress, disease pressure, and any early signs of grub or insect activity.

Landscape maintenance in June is different from lawn care in June - and it is worth understanding exactly what your planted beds, shrubs, and ornamental plants need right now.

Here is what our professionals are focused on for maintained properties this month:
• Shrub trimming:
June is one of the last good windows to prune many shrubs before their growth hardens off for the season. Timing matters - cut too late, and you affect next year's bloom cycle.
• Mulch check: three inches is the target.
Below that threshold, beds lose moisture faster, and w**d pressure increases quickly. Our team assesses depth on every visit and addresses it when needed.
• Deadheading annuals and perennials:
Removing spent blooms redirects energy into continued flowering. It takes consistent attention. Our team will take care of this for you.
• Monitoring for disease and pests:
Powdery mildew, aphid pressure, and spider mites are all active in June heat and humidity. Catching them early prevents significant damage.
