Trick or Treat, Brush Your Teeth!
Things to remember on Halloween...

🦷Eat a balanced meal before the fun begins! 🍽️
-If you aren't hungry, all of the candy will be less tempting!
🦷Make smart candy choices🍭🍬
-Chewy and sticky are the worst choices as they are most likely to end up stuck to teeth, causing cavities.
🦷Don't eat all the candy at once, but rather make a specific time each day to indulge🕑
-Doing so will allow your saliva a chance to build up and wash away acidity brought to your mouth by sugars found in Halloween candy!
🦷 Wash away the sugars💦
-Make sure you are drinking water and brushing your teeth after indulging in sweets. The longer sweets sit on your teeth, the more damage it causes!
🦷Visit your dentist🪥
-Make sure to get your teeth cleaned and checked for cavities!

It's officially Fall! Don't forget to keep up on your oral hygiene as the Holiday Season begins to ramp up!

The American Dental Association recommends brushing teeth twice a day for ⏰ 2️⃣ minutes using a fluoride toothpaste. Brushing for two minutes has been shown to achieve clinically significant plaque removal and use of a toothpaste containing fluoride enhances fluoride concentration levels in biofilm fluid and saliva, and is associated with ⬇️decreased risk of caries🦠 and remineralization of teeth🦷

The 🦷American Dental Association🦷 recommends replacing toothbrushes every 3️⃣ months. It’s around this time that bristles begin to break down and become less effective at cleaning your teeth.

🦠Bacteria and fungus🧫 can develop in the bristles of your toothbrush, too. After brushing, make sure to thoroughly rinse and dry your toothbrush before storing it in an upright position away from other toothbrushes.

Can’t remember the last time you threw out your toothbrush and replaced it with a new one? 🤔 You’re likely overdue❗️Pay close attention to the condition of the bristles. If they’re worn out, frayed, or show signs of discoloration, it’s time to shop for a new toothbrush🪥

If you’re in the market for a new toothbrush, consider upgrading to an electric model. The heads are interchangeable, allowing you to quickly swap out old bristles for new ones. Electric toothbrushes also frequently include timer⏲️ features, ensuring that you’re brushing for a full 2️⃣ minutes each session.

Not sure you want to make the switch to an electric toothbrush? Manual versions are fine, too. Look for options with soft bristles, as hard bristles can damage your enamel. The head size should cover one or two teeth at a time😃
