I've spoken with someone who called themselves a shaman. I respectfully asked if they could tell me their definition of a shaman. People seem to associate shamanism with many different traits or skills. This person couldn't tell me what a shaman is. It got me thinking. How many of us can't define what defines us? I know being a mother is a big defining piece of who I am. But I couldn't tell you what it means to be a mother. Yet I just know that it is a large part of who I am.
