Hair quality changes over the years. It’s normal, but no one tells us how to handle it.

Why do I always recommend shampooing your hair twice? 👀

Because the first shampoo cleans, and the second shampoo treats.

The first wash removes oil, sweat, dry shampoo, styling products, SPF, pollution, and buildup from the scalp. That’s why sometimes your shampoo doesn’t foam much the first time — it is working through the residue.

The second wash allows the shampoo to reach the scalp better, spread evenly, foam properly, and let the active ingredients actually do their job.

This is especially important if you have:
• oily scalp
• flakes or itching
• buildup
• seborrheic dermatitis
• hair loss routine
• or you wash only 1–2 times per week

But remember: shampoo is for your scalp, not your hair length. Massage the scalp gently and let the foam rinse through the ends — don’t rub the length aggressively.

Healthy hair starts with a properly cleansed scalp 🤍

I see that this part can be confusing at times because you need to add your card before booking, but that doesn’t mean you’re paying in advance.

You DM’d me asking «more information and what to do?» after the trichodynia reel — so here’s the in-depth guide you asked for. 💛

Quick recap: trichodynia is real scalp pain, burning, or tingling, often WITHOUT any visible rash. Up to 1 in 3 people with hair loss experience it. Most don’t realize the scalp can sense follicular changes before thinning appears in the mirror.

I want to be honest with you: there is NO magic wand for trichodynia. Every scalp has its own set of causes — bloodwork, hormones, stress, products, history. What helps someone else may do nothing or make it worse for you. Calming products and habits can help, but they don’t replace a real plan.

The best solution for YOUR scalp comes from a thorough consultation: we measure your scalp and density, review your bloodwork, and listen to your full story. Then we create a plan together. Education is important — personalized care makes a difference.

If your scalp has been hurting and you’re tired of guessing, your First Meeting at Hair Project Studio (Mountain View, inside Sola Salon) is your Point A.

Product recommendations will be in my next post — follow me for more info.
