To keep the public informed and rumors at bay, we are sad to say that due to multiple factors, Pawsitivity Rescue Inc. will be closing our doors permanently. We are sad to go and will miss being able to help our community and its furry friends.
We will do an explanation post in the coming weeks, but we wanted to get this out there since our town is small, and rumors tend to travel fast.
Unfortunately, effective immediately, all services are hereby closed. We have 12 kittens in our care that will be up for adoption soon, so keep an eye out for the positive aspects and know that we will miss you all. Thank you for your many years of support! We appreciate you all.

π± STOP! Those "Abandoned" Kittens Might Not Need Saving! π¨
Kitnapping is one of the biggest threats to kitten survival. We see it constantly - well-meaning people "rescue" kittens who desperately need their mama cat.
π THE HEARTBREAKING TRUTH:
Most "abandoned" kittens aren't abandoned at all. Mom is likely nearby hunting for food or moving her babies to a safer spot.
π« DON'T kitnap if:
Kittens are clean, plump, and sleeping quietly in a pile
They're in a safe, dry location (even if it seems odd to you)
They're not crying frantically
You haven't observed them for several hours
It's daytime (mom often hunts during the day)
β
DO THIS INSTEAD:
WAIT & WATCH from a distance for 4-6 hours
Check if kittens appear fed (round bellies, not crying)
Look for signs of mom returning
If it's not an emergency, give mom time to come back
β οΈ WHEN TO ACT:
Kittens are in immediate danger (road, rain, extreme heat/cold)
After monitoring, mom hasn't returned in 6+ hours
Kittens are visibly injured, weak, or crying continuously
Very young kittens (eyes closed) are cold to the touch
π BEST OUTCOME = KITTENS WITH MOM
No human can replace a mother cat. She provides perfect nutrition, teaches survival skills, and gives them the best chance at life.
π ALWAYS CALL US FIRST! We can guide you through monitoring and help determine if intervention is truly needed.

πΎ April is National Pet First Aid Awareness Month! πΎ
Would you know what to do if your furry friend had an emergency? Being prepared can make all the difference in saving your pet's life! π
This month, we encourage all pet parents to:
β
Get Educated - Take a pet first aid course or familiarize yourself with basic emergency procedures
β
Have a Plan - Know where your nearest 24-hour emergency vet is located and keep their number handy
β
Build a Kit - Assemble a pet first aid kit with essentials like gauze, bandages, and emergency contact numbers
β
Stay Aware - Learn to recognize signs of common emergencies and know what's toxic to pets
Remember: In an emergency, staying calm and knowing what to do can save precious time! β°

πΎ Important Reminder: Warmer Weather = Parasite Prevention Time! πΎ
As temperatures start to rise, our furry friends face increased risks from fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites that thrive in warmer conditions. π‘οΈ
Protect your pets by:
β
Keeping up with monthly preventatives
β
Regular vet check-ups and parasite screenings
β
Checking for ticks after outdoor adventures
β
Maintaining clean living spaces
β
Being extra vigilant during peak parasite season
Remember: Prevention is always easier (and less expensive!) than treatment. Some parasites can also affect humans, so protecting our pets protects our whole family! π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
