If your MANUFACTURED HOME INSPECTOR does not follow Title 24 HUD (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-24/subtitle-B/chapter-XX/part-3285/subpart-E), you are being cheated, plain and simple.

Manufactured homes are extremely vulnerable to windstorms. The damage starts at the bottom. It means first the foundation, then the building. Title 24 gives guidance for straps and anchors (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-24/subtitle-B/chapter-XX/part-3285?toc=1).

If you need a retrofit or are unable to install that many straps, an alternative anchoring system can be designed.

This is an example of nonstructural failure. Designing facades generally does not involve structural engineers. It may be the time for that.

Truss failure happens due to factors such as insufficient temporary bracing during construction, heavy snowfall or water damage causing excessive load, high winds during assembly, or weakened joint connections and members.

Foundation settlement is arrested by using helical piers, steel push piers, or driven concrete piers. All these are kinds of deep foundations, and hence costly.

However, if you have a crawl space with isolated footings, the straightforward solution is to construct additional isolated footings to support the floor beams. For designing such systems economically with cheaply available jacks, please get in touch with Ray Structural Engineering

This is one such example from the Arizona Foundation Solutions

You might have seen that the nails on your deck pop up after a dry and hot weather spell, and the railing starts bending too much, even with a slight push.

Ever wondered why? It happens due to drying wood that contracts and widens the cracks, and expanding nail due to heat. Year after year the deck will incur damage.

For economical design or repair of such decks, please get in touch with Structural Engineering
