Sad news here and I’m baffled and still completely in shock by what happened considering I’m doing what I’ve always done

Just went to do my biweekly tadpole upkeep and found them ravaged by a mold/fungus.. out of 60-70 only 4 survived and the only clutch I had waiting in the wings.. so Simply Southern Darts has taken a severe hit to say the least… pretty devastating to see all the little frog bodies that were just about ready to be moved to tilted cups… 😢💔rip lil froggies

Started completely fresh .. transitioned to 4 different containers of water before moving to the tadpole condos to make sure they weren’t bringing anything contaminated
But honestly I’m feeling pretty defeated.. I’m considering stopping pulling clutches and just letting nature work its course.. this hurts!

Sooo….I’m making these cork bark ledges. They can be small, medium, or on the larger side and come with the option to add several different types of moss. I also have gallon bags of baked magnolias and dwarf whites.

Just showing how effective ff larvae is… this was this lil guy on Friday late night and the 2nd picture is him Sunday evening after being placed in a smaller bin with a good many ff larvae

My son went out to the mailbox to get mail from yesterday.. he came back in.. no mail..BUT… he had this beauty!!! Not sure if I should be agitated or proud??🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

We gave it some yummy wax worms as a nice treat he has probably never had and released him where he picked him up.

It’s a Southern Leopard frog. The Northern Leopard Frog is actually on the endangered species list.. but the Southern’s conservation status is stable. It is known for screaming in a trill, startling, screech when it feels threatened so Lockwood got quite the scare when he picked him up. He also had a rough time actually catching it.. these guys are known for being loooong jumpers!

Day 2 of treatment.. hoping it will, against the odds, make an improvement on this case of SLS.. I will say.. it already seems chunkier.. it’s pigging out on springtails
