LSSC Honors Program

It was such an absolute joy to be able to celebrate our graduating honors students this past Friday. We are so very proud of you and so excited to see all the amazing things you’re going to accomplish!

Big week for our students, which kicked off with a trip to Universal Studios on Monday, followed up by numerous recognitions at our Academic and Student Life awards on Tuesday, and the culminated in the poster presentations of their capstone projects and the premier of their short film apply physics and theatre concepts. So proud of our students and all of the work that they’ve done!

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to take our first and second year honors students to the Florida Collegiate Honors Council Conference. It was a wonderful experience, and we were especially delighted to get to watch two of our second-year students present their research and one of our first-year students take home first place in the fine arts competition!

It was such a privilege to get to host a team from Stetson University on our campus yesterday. Our students loved getting to learn more about the articulation agreement we have with their Honors Program, and we’re super excited to take our students there for a visit later this spring!

Loved getting to meet prospective students at our College Night event last night! Applications for next year's cohort are open already, and our priority deadline is March 1st!

This week, while our second-year students were learning all sorts of valuable tips from our alumni during our transfer workshop, the first years spent some time outdoors, learning all about the restoration projects happening at PEAR Park. Thanks so much to Wendy and her team for having us!

Special thanks to Kaley Bird's Cabin for donating some of her gorgeous baked goods to our Depressed Cakes Pop-Up Bakery. We were able to raise $400 for local mental health services, and her beautiful work was a big part of that!

This week, our honors students hosted a Depressed Cakes Pop-up Bakery and, in doing so, raised more than $300 for local mental health services. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and bought something/donated to the event!

We just had our team-building event with both of our first and second years. This was a great chance to establish a sense of community in the cohort.

We are very excited to welcome back our students, both new and old! Here's to another great semester!
