They are hoping you make this an urgency and try to resolve this resulting in scamming us out of money.. Skelly was abducted this last weekend! Through good camera footage and investigative work Skelly, the famous Motley Holiday Store mascot was located in Bemidji! He has been returned and is safe with its Holiday Store family!!

New DNR boating requirement..

Please don’t be alarmed of the many scams that are going around!  This is one of the latest text message they sent trying to scam people!

The Sheriff's Office is warning the public about a scam currently circulating in our area. In the reported cases, a scammer calls a person and falsely claims to be a law enforcement officer. The caller tells the individual that there is a warrant for their arrest, citing reasons such as missing a court date or failing to report for jury duty.

To make the situation seem legitimate, the scammer then instructs the person to come to the Sheriff’s Office to “take care of the warrant” and avoid further legal trouble.

Typically, the Sheriff's Office will not call you and ask you to come in to resolve a warrant. If there is a legitimate warrant for your arrest, we will come to your residence in person. We will not request payment over the phone, nor will we try to “schedule” a meeting to resolve a warrant.

If you receive a call like this:

--Do not give out any personal information.

--Do not agree to meet the caller.

--Hang up immediately.

The Motley Police Department is asking that anyone going on frozen lakes and ponds to be very cautious! Keep in mind having an ice casualty also puts our first responders and law-enforcement in great danger having to deal these incidents!
