Every year the Margaret Mayeux family awards FFA members with their own FFA blue corduroy jacket! To apply to win a jacket, a person must be an active FFA member and complete an application and essay prompt. This years essay prompt was “what does FFA mean to you and how would receiving an FFA jacket help you to continue being an active FFA member. Out of 88 applicants, 14 were selected, one of them being our very own Chloe Pham. We are so proud of her and cannot wait to see where her blue jacket takes her. Congratulations, Chloe!

Today, Sam Houston FFA competed at the State Environmental and Natural Resources and State Agronomy contests at LA Tech in Ruston.

SHHS Agronomy Blue Team placed 4th and Gold Team 8th out of 18 teams!

SHHS ENR Blue Team placed 2nd and Gold Team 7th out of 22 teams!

We are super proud of all of these members and the hard work, late nights, and long practices they dedicated towards their contests.

Today, we brought 46 students to compete in the Area III FFA Career Development Events Competitions at McNeese. We had teams competing in Meats Evaluation, Veterinary Science, Milk Quality, Nursery and Landscape, Poultry Judging, and Electricity. These students fought hard against the harsh winds and cold temperatures and some really great competitors. We placed top 10 in each contest. Ulysses Mairena placed 3rd and qualified for the state contest. We are extremely proud of all the hard work they have put into studying their contests this season. The future is bright for these students! Keep striving for success!

Sam Houston FFA is starting our fall fundraiser. Fundraisers help us pay for supplies and food for meetings, expenses for competitions and camps, as well as travel fees. We are selling desserts, hams, and turkeys. Orders are due November 7th. These orders will be delivered the second week of December — just in time for Christmas!! Today, Sam Houston FFA travel to LA Tech to compete in the State Agronomy CDE. Sam Houston Blue placed 4th placed and received a banner! Sam Houston Gold placed 8th! We are so extremely proud of this group! Keep up to the good work!
