Establish routines within your family, like family dinnertime, family movie nights, family game night, family chores. These teach and strengthen relationships, build communication skills, can teach emotional regulating and self awareness. DINNER TIME CHATS is a great exercise you can do during dinner to practice all three of these skills.
Tip: We have a tendency to dismiss the lows. Not talking about the lows are missed opportunities to develop communication around "low." It may inadvertently teach avoiding or dismissing "low" feelings. It also misses an opportunity to practice how to respond when others share their "lows."
