Sweet, silly and ornery little Halle gave us the sweetest garden photo shoot a few days ago! I love seeing her sparkly eyes tell the story of her personality. Give me a cute baby, sunshine, flowers, and garden pictures every.single.day.
This family is a part of my First Years Collective, which is the perfect way to capture the sweetest milestones as a child grows. As we all know, it happens WAY too fast. The only remedy I have found for it thus far is to take pictures... frequently :)
Enjoy a little peek into our morning together!

Not sure this little doll baby could get ANY cuter. Franci matched my studio to perfection with her beautiful red hair, bright blue eyes, porcelain skin & sweet, quiet demeanor. She mostly just sat and stared at me in the beginning, but warmed up quickly and I found her little personality peeking out. This is why I absolutely LOVE capturing this age range... because you canāt bottle up this sweetness, but you can photograph it. And documenting it ensures you wonāt ever forget the perfection of their littleness. š Check out the blog post for a few more pics from this sesh! >> https://www.taryn.photography/blog/bp/franci
All is most certainly NOT lost, even with a moody toddler in tow. Donāt give up at the first sign of resistance⦠a gem of a moment is just around the corner and can change on a dime. š¤Ŗ

Spring is flying right by! āļø The weather has been amazing and Iāve been busy enjoying every moment working in my garden, feeding my kids popsicles and soaking in the season.

Iām a professional photographer and I didnāt take my nice camera with me on vacation. I used my iPhone the entire time, including for this little photo sesh on the beach. Hereās how I did it so you can, too:
Timing > 5pm. It was still VERY bright and another hour wouldāve helped, both with reducing the busy-ness on the beach and with the lighting. But I made it work and the white sands of Siesta Key were a lovely natural reflector!
Lighting > I almost always put the sun behind my subject and/or to the side when capturing their face. Creative shots, you can take more liberty and use backlighting or direct sunlight on your subject.
Tripod > bring one. I totally forgot ours and I was so bummed. Thankfully, a sweet lady on the beach saw me struggling to see a shot up and prop the phone up on my stroller and offered to take a few. She did great and the only thing I needed to deal with was editing out people in the background, which is super easy now with Lightroomās AI feature!
Mode > I used portrait mode for every single shot. My camera worked hard and in the hot FL sun it did start to overheatā¦I had to take a few quick breaks but overall it did great and portrait mode gives you that soft background and fine focus you want šš»
Editing > I edited all of these on my phone using a custom preset in Lightroom.
Printing > I likely wonāt go above an 8x10, but I probably could (Iāve gone up to 12x12 before with phone shots and theyāve printed great!) 4x6s and 5x7s will print beautifully!
Iām not saying, donāt ever take your nice camera along. But a strong case can certainly be made to use your device in hand to get the job done. No, the quality is not top tier excellent as a DSLR raw image might be, but do you really need that for a casual vacation beach sesh?
Enjoy the tips and save for later if youāll use them! šø

Love a sweet little spring baby... Cameron and her older sister were in my studio a few days ago! Sister interactions are my favorite and this one did not disappoint. Avery was such a big girl holding little sis and Cameron was bright-eyed and alert with her knowing look! She wanted to stay up and party for the first part of the session, which was fine because she is so chill! She has the most amazing eyelashes and sweetest little face and I loved getting to capture every detail. šøš¼ More on the blog >> https://www.taryn.photography/blog/bp/cameron

Sweetest little ladies were in my studio last week! We had a 5 year old and a 1 year old, so I felt right at home :) The oldest was spunky and had lots of questions and observations, and the little one was a little energizer bunny who never stopped moving... again, I felt right at home!!
The littlest just turned ONE, so we ended the photo shoot with a cake smash. Love those so much. The sheer joy (and curiosityā āis this for real? are you really letting me do this right now?ā) and sensory experience makes for the best pictures. Kind of wish cake smashes were still a thing when you turn 40! Maybe not the capturing it with pictures part, though š
Anyway, enjoy a little peek into our afternoon together grabbing some special moments of these sweet girlies. More pics in the blog post >> https://www.taryn.photography/blog/bp/thompson
Suuuuuper easy way to display over 30 photos at a time. Low pressure because you just grab some favorites from your phone, print them at Walmart (1 hour photo was done in less than an hour for me today, it cost me $13 total for way more pics than I actually hung up here including two 5x7s that Iām framing, so I guesstimate this would be well under $10), and hang up using the little clips. Update it once a quarter, once a year, once a week⦠the sky is the limit!
I bought this display off of Amazon a couple years ago. Type in āhanging photo display with clipsā to find something similar.
