Join us at our upcoming AHP Stanislaus National Forest Recreation Residence Survey.
If you've ever wanted to learn more about architectural history, our upcoming volunteer opportunity might be the perfect program for you! The HistoriCorpsā Architectural History Program is an exciting endeavor that engages volunteers in surveying tracts for our National Forest partners. Volunteers will travel to different sites to collect the necessary data that will help the Forests determine how they manage these lands for future generations. Each crew will travel from site to site to photograph, measure, and investigate the numerous structures on each tract. Stellar work to our AHP: Boise National Forest Recreation Residence Survey crew! Last week, this exceptional group of volunteers and field staff traveled out to Idaho to conduct tract surveys within the Cascade Ranger District. Over the course of just one week, this expeditious crew surveyed four Cascade Ranger District tracts plus additional tracts in neighboring districts. We want to say thank you to the volunteers, field staff, and partners that made this volunteer opportunity a success! If you've ever wanted to experience a Recreation Residence Survey for yourself, we still have opportunities to join the crew this summer. We're gearing up for our next AHP adventure at the Stanislaus National Forest and we hope to see you there! Join us this summer at White Bluffs Cabin along Washington's gorgeous Columbia River!
Volunteers will dismantle the cabin, document its original roof structure for historic records, replace deteriorating wall logs, and rebuild a sod roof.
Even in our line of work, this is a rare opportunity and we cannot wait to walk our volunteers through a gamut of historic trades to preserve the White Bluffs Cabin for future generations.
