Flashback time! Here are some photos of the space before renovations four years ago. It's been a fun time and we've had a blast!

As some of you may know we will be closing the gallery after the Lainey Harrison show. February 14th will be the final day. Below is the full press release that went out earlier this week. We will be hosting a free farewell concert on Friday, January 24 featuring the Tills (formerly known as the Critters) starting at 9PM. Look for the event to be posted later today. Thanks to all the patrons who supported the gallery over the last 4 years. It's been a blast.

MESH Design Group Closing Gallery to Focus on Creative Agency MESH Design Group has announced that it will be closing the doors of its art gallery located in downtown Morganton, North Carolina in late February.

“As our creative agency has grown over the past four years,” said Eliot Lytle, partner at MESH, “we came to the difficult decision to close the art gallery and focus fully on our creative agency.”

“MESH Gallery has enjoyed tremendous support from the residents of Morganton,” said Joe Carey, also partner at MESH Design Group. “We thank all of the patrons that have supported the gallery during this time and made the experience a success.”

Lytle added, “From the beginning, MESH Gallery has been an experimental endeavor founded in the spirit of staying connected to the community and creating a unique and organic work environment. It was not designed to be profitable and was subsidized by MESH Design Group.”

The gallery focused on exhibiting the works of local and regional artists in an open exhibition space that allowed for the uninhibited, uncensored display of works.

In addition to providing a showcase for talented Burke County artists, the gallery has also featured regional artists including Dan Smith of Hickory, Laura Lashley of Winston-Salem, and Tim Barnwell of Asheville, NC.

MESH Design Group also donated the gallery space to host the Artists’ Preview for The Art of Chocolate fundraiser for Options, Inc. each year since opening in March, 2010.

“While we will miss having MESH Gallery and hosting art events, we will continue to support the arts in Burke County in many ways including our existing association with the Burke Arts Council,” said Lytle.

MESH Design Group will maintain its presence in downtown Morganton, moving its offices to 138 South Sterling Street. “Our new location features a large open office space with room for additional employees and a great view of the Historic Courthouse.” said Carey. “We look forward to continuing to produce great work for our clients and growing our client base.”

We hope to see everyone tomorrow evening for the Woodworkers' Reception at the Burke Arts Council!

It's always sad to see an exhibition leave the gallery

A quick reminder: Tomorrow is the last day for the WNC Studio Glass Exhibition in MESH Gallery. If you haven't seen the amazing work of these artists, you are missing out!

These definitely fall under the classification of "Amazing." They're life-size!

Wow! What a great evening we had last night at the gallery. The support shown for Options, Inc. was tremendous!
