Why They Did It...
Harvey & Beth Hicks decided to retire in Morganton in 2014 after having been stationed here from 1999 to 2008. Soon after Harvey retired from the Army in 2016, they decided they wanted to open a business in Downtown Morganton. But, what kind of business should it be? They did some research, spoke with some community leaders, and mulled it over for just a short time before they decided to open a “general store”. It was what the community wanted, what Downtown Morganton needed, and to what Harvey & Beth aspired! Voila, the Morganton General Store was born!
