Welcome! This page is run by county employees for the sole purpose of posting open and close statuses of the Fonta Flora State Trail.
If you have any questions regarding your trip, please contact the phone or email provided. We hope you enjoy your visit! Primarily a natural surface trail, the FFST provides users with gentle grades and spectacular views of Lake James. It is open to hikers and bikers year-round.
Due to Hurricane Helene, the Fonta Flora State Trail will be closed until further notice. Thank you for your understanding.
The Fonta Flora Trail bridge across the cove is now open!

This Saturday, the Fonta Flora Trail will be closed for the Barnburner 50k mountain bike race. We have everyone's safety in mind and don't want any biker/hiker accidents. We hope you take this time to check out other trails in our area! (Just not Lake James State Park because it will also be closed) We will be back open after 3pm.

Burke County, NC Fonta Flora Trail is Open!
The MST Connector/Blue Dot Trail is closed today while the NC Wildlife Resources Commission conducts controlled burns. Please obey all signs and instructions. The Fonta Flora Trail at County Park remains open.
