Shortly after my retirement in October 2017 from the company that employed me for 42 years, I decided to use my experience, education, skills (plus my desire to help others) to offer servant leadership as an independent quality management consultant.

After success in this venture, I have decided to officially and completely retire, effective April 1, 2019. It is time for me to focus on other aspects of my life.

Many thanks to all of my clients for the opportunity to assist in the development and/or improvement of your quality management systems.

I’ll leave you with this advice —
Continually improve your QMS for your business and not just for that certificate on the wall.

Where ISO 9001:2008 used the term “records” to denote documents needed to provide evidence of conformity with requirements, this is now (ISO 9001:2015) expressed as a requirement to “retain documented information”. The organization is responsible for determining what documented information needs to be retained, the period of time for which it is to be retained and the media to be used for its retention.

Deming’s 14-Points were valid then (1982), are valid now (2019) and will continue to be valid.

Good article. I’d add that a great leader also says —
* “How can I improve my performance?”
* “I’d prefer that you don’t use the word “boss” when referring to me. Remember, you do not work for me. We’re coworkers that both work for the company.”
