Today’s workout:
Front Squats: 4x5 90lb
Deadlift: 4x3 110lbs
Split Squat: 3x8 ea side 30lbs
Mobility:
Elevated pigeon hinges: 2x10 ea side
Jefferson Curls: standing on a box 10lbs
Right now I’m lucky if I get one “leg day” in a week. So I combined squats and deadlifts the same day. I’m not moving super heavy weight these days so it should be fine on my nervous system.
Right now my goals are balancing my hormones and feeling good in my body. Stepping back into the gym again has come with lots of sneaky comparisons I make with a younger, stronger and more competitive version of myself. I often need to remind myself that it’s about the long game.
We don’t just need softness to heal.
We also need strength.
The kind you feel when you lift something heavy and realize your body knows what to do.
That’s part of regulation too.
As I’ve uncoupled pressure and shame from a lot of things in my life, I’ve become a heck of a lot more creative! Thinking outside of the box is a fun new trait of mine.
As it turns out, working out doesn’t need to have a perfect set of rules. If you wait for everything to be just right it’ll never happen.
I only did like 2 sets of 8 on each leg… but that’s 2 sets of 8 more than I had planned 😎
