Jasper County Board of Education Names Tracy Blackburn as
Sole Finalist for Superintendent
Press Release: June 9, 2026
Monticello, Ga. – The Jasper County Board of Education announced Tracy R. Blackburn as the sole finalist for the position of Superintendent of the Jasper County Charter System. After an
extensive process to select the next superintendent, the Board identified Mrs. Blackburn as a leader whose commitment to student achievement, strong community partnerships and preparing
students for life beyond graduation reflects the values and vision of the Jasper County Charter System. Mrs. Blackburn brings nearly three decades of educational experience to the role, including
service as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and chief academic officer. She currently serves as Chief of Learning and Leadership for Newton County
Schools, where she oversees school leadership, teaching and learning, student services and athletics. During her time in Newton County, she has helped lead the district to achieve gains in
CCRPI, content mastery, dual enrollment, Advanced Placement participation and achievement, and literacy instruction.
Prior to Newton County, Mrs. Blackburn served as Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership for Henry County Schools, where she supported principals and school leaders in
strengthening instruction, operations and student achievement. Her district leadership is grounded in fifteen years of building-level experience, including four years as an assistant principal and more than ten years as principal of Rock Spring Elementary School. Under her leadership, Rock Spring consistently outperformed district and state CCRPI, earning 100 on Closing Gap scores and maintaining five-star climate ratings. Mrs. Blackburn began her career in the classroom, serving seven years as a fifth-grade and Early
Intervention Program teacher. At the University of Florida, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and has continued her professional growth through state and
national leadership programs, including The Forum for Educational Leadership, the AASA Aspiring Female Superintendents Academy and the AASA National Principal Supervisor Academy.
Beyond her professional work, Mrs. Blackburn has dedicated her life to community outreach, mentoring, leadership development and volunteer service. She is a devoted wife, mother of two,
stepmother of two and step-grandmother of two, and she credits family, faith, service and relationships as guiding influences in her life and leadership. The naming of the finalist culminates almost two months of search activity by the Jasper County
Board of Education. In April of this year, the Board selected Georgia Leadership Associates to assist them with the search. With the help of the search firm, the position was advertised, and applications were reviewed. The candidates were screened and vetted. Multiple lengthy interviews were conducted for a select group of applicants. With the naming of the finalist, the Board must now wait at least fourteen days before taking an official vote to employ Mrs.
Blackburn as the next Superintendent of the Jasper County Charter System. In conjunction with announcing Mrs. Blackburn as the sole finalist, the Jasper Board of Education is officially releasing her biographical information. “I am truly grateful to the Jasper County Board of Education for its confidence and for the opportunity to be considered to serve as Superintendent of the Jasper County Charter System. The system’s commitment to inspiring and motivating every student to achieve individual success while preparing them for life beyond school reflects the heart of why I chose this work. I
look forward to listening, learning and working together to ensure every student is known, challenged, supported and prepared for what comes next,” said Mrs. Blackburn.
The Jasper County Board of Education will hold a business meeting on Tuesday, June 9th at 9AM. The meeting will be held at the board office located at 1411 College Street, Monticello Georgia. The purpose of the meeting is to review and discuss several strategic planning items as well as review and potentially take action on several memorandums of agreement.
