I had to buy a Remy since I've spent time in Provence this week. And a large suitcase because I'm a shopping ju**ie. I spent modestly for each item, but there were a LOT of them! I did buy a Roland Garros linen shirt that cost a few pennies, but it is so perfect.

I hope to take more fashion pics today in Avignon. The folks in the first shot are from SCAD, hosting prospective students for a week in France. Whaaaat? The last pic I just loved this guy's color blocking ensemble.

Part 2 of Provence tour.
Each town square, each 11th century castle is so charming. Colors so vivid you feel more alive just being there. We drove by the asylum in Remy en Provence where Vincent Van Gogh spent a year and saw pictures of paintings he made there against the actual settings. Inspiring.

Seriously? A guy playing the accordion on the Metro? Perfect soundtrack for a day in Paris. Gare de Lyon, waiting for the TGV to Avignon. View of the courtyard at my tiny hotel. Took a tour of some nearby towns in Provence, each view more astounding than the one before.

You've seen it all your life and now you're here. Simply amazing. Every view is spectacular, the Abbey remarkable. And the STEPS! Our guide for the village, Boussou, sized us up pretty quickly and gave an intelligent and amusing tour.

Charles, Wes and I ate a hearty breakfast before exploring the Marais. We found, by accident, the oldest church in Paris: St Julien de Pauvre. We had timed entry for Notre Dame and were suitably stunned by the amazing interior. I found what I thought were artworks by 20th century artists, including Matisse - unexpected!
I retired to Shakespeare & Co to buy a book and find a shady place to wait while they climbed a tower at Notre Dame. 457 steps!
The day was not over, but the Louvre deserves its own post. We're off to Mt St Michel on the train today and temps are supposed to moderate tomorrow, thank goodness.

Night session at Roland Garros did not disappoint! Met new friends from the UK at dinner. Match play was so fast and powerful and the crowd was a 3rd player. Have a tiny silver Eiffel Tower on my chain; so nice to have a symbol of Paris around my neck.🥰😎

Day 1 and 2 in Paris:
Galeries de Lafayette department store; delicious lamb dinner; Notre Dame; Concergerie dates back to 600s, Marie Antoinette was imprisoned there for a couple of months; stained glass windows in Sainte Chappelle; decorations in upper chapel; famous English language bookstore.

Tonight is the evening session at the French Open, complete with cocktails, dinner and tennis! Stay tuned.

Best gift my mother ever gave me. Well, aside from life itself and my great-grandmother's teapot and her amber necklace, and the bowls from my paternal grandmother. Yes, that pretty much covers it.

Cotton sweaters organized in drawers while woolies are in IKEA storage bags. So that's linens, sweaters and glasses/mugs this week. Feeling righteous!
