These new homeowners needed a yard for their dog to run around in.

Although the pond was a very attractive landscaping feature, it had started leaking overtime.

When you pair a leaking pond with a faulty French drain, you tend to have a muddy mess.

We dug out the old, and entirely clogged French drain and reinstalled a new one. We back filled the pond with most of the rocks that were there and then lastly a large amount of sand for drainage. Topping everything off with zoysia sod, their dog Bailey will now have a great yard to play in.

Saving the landscape! After completing this landscape project in December, we noticed the beds were holding too much water for the landscape plants to survive. We added in a French drain to catch water coming downhill toward this property. The drain will collect water and direct it toward a down-hill slope to resolve the issue. Most areas of Alabama are known for having
low-oxygenated soil. This can cause many problems for homeowners. Whether it’s damage to the foundation, your bushes rotting away, or even an excessive mosquito problem, standing water will make these problems very apparent. Customer feedback pic from July😃 Summer color adds a great touch to the landscape. These perennial coneflowers and rudbeckia will bloom in the summertime, and die back during the winter. Cut the dead growth to the ground, cover with pinestraw during the winter months and watch them show off again next summer. These perennials will begin blooming right after the springtime blooms of things like azaleas, hydrangeas, and gardenias; like the gardenias we added to this yard in Prattville,AL. Between flowering shrubs, perennials, and annuals, plants that bloom at different times of the year can keep your yard attractive with color all year round.

A little landscaping goes a long way. It’s almost that time of the year to get your yard ready for the fall. Although it’s still a tough time of the year for plants to be planted, with Alabama’s rainfall it’s often pretty easy to maintain. Some people are starting early this year! Call us today!

This week’s project at Seay, Seay, & Litchfield Architecture. 😃 Installed Azaleas to grow big in the back and add blooms in the spring 🌸, a row of Japanese Boxwoods to eventually become a hedge and border the azaleas, and lastly a few thick rows of Mondo grass to give it a great looking ground cover. At their office across the street, we installed a 10ft, circular flagstone patio in their courtyard. Sitting right next to the water fountain, it makes for a great, relaxing lunch spot. Just a little bit of landscaping left around the patio and then we’ll be looking right! 👍

Some before and after pics of our project in The Waters neighborhood. This client had issues growing landscaping against their house so we built the beds up and added an attractive border and some river rock from the Tennessee river to give the beds a great finished look.
