"We really see Orleans Station as the first response to the formation of the Memphis Medical District Collaborative" — Alex Turley, CEO, Henry Turley Company.
The past decade of investment and collaboration in the Medical District has added up to a district that feels like a neighborhood. Orleans Station brought residences and retail to ten acres that used to be surface parking and created a walkable, connected community. A few blocks away, the old Wonder Bread factory building found new life as the headquarters for Orion Financial.
We're proud to have shaped both — a new infill community on one end and a hundred-year-old restoration on the other.

Rust Hall was once hailed as a "living and enduring monument." More than sixty years later, that's exactly what it's becoming again.
Christopher Blank of WKNO - 91.1 FM Memphis explored the 1959 New Formalist landmark with LRK 's Krissy Buck Flickinger and Greg Morrison as it prepares to reopen as the new home of the Metal Museum, honoring the building's history while adding what comes next.
Give it a listen (3:59) ahead of the museum's Grand Opening this weekend.

Texas dance halls and farm stores have anchored small-town social life since the 1800s. Two Step Farm was planned with that in mind.
Two Step Hall, The Farm Shop, The Grazery, and The Co-Op are all within a walk of each other, amenities anchoring a classically-Texas neighborhood.

"The biggest challenge with a project like this is finding things you didn't expect." — Jonathan Smith, LRK senior associate and project architect, on Mynders Hall.
Opened in 1912, Mynders is one of three original buildings on the University of Memphis campus. Renovated several times over its life, it's been empty since 2015. Each renovation left something behind, adding layers over the building's original painted concrete floor tiles and wood molding. As each layer goes, LRK's renovation is returning the building to its original character while preparing it for modern use. Come spring 2027, Mynders Hall will be a modern research facility.
"It didn't take much to bring her back to what she was," said Jaemi Kurtzman, LRK interior designer and UofM alum.

"Nobody usually says that their favorite room is a corridor, but mine is, because this is the space that best illustrates the story of the building." — Krissy Flickinger, on the corridor connecting historic Rust Hall to the new Metals Studio
This corridor does more than connect old and new. It forms part of the central axis that links the main entry sequence and metal art pathways. Dynamically designed ceilings and skylights flood the space with natural light, while track lighting highlights artwork displayed along the walls. A glass vitrine showcases a rotating collection of objects, creating an ever-changing experience for visitors. As you walk the corridor, the textured historic “special brick” facade of Rust Hall on one side contrasts with contemporary walls and windows on the other, which offer views into the individual metal studios beyond. At its core, this versatile space accommodates group demonstrations and serves as an entrance portal to the Art Garden interior courtyard. Together, these areas support the museum’s educational mission while bringing in an abundance of daylight and views to nature into this one-of-a-kind museum experience.
