What better way to put prices and comparing needs vs. wants into perspective than by doing it in real time. After lunch we went to Rooms 2 Go where we activated our prior learning of how much with tax the items will cost. Then we had to determine IF that was in our budget, and if it was what we needed or what we wanted. They say life is gonna life well at the Odyssey we are preparing for that because our STAARs are gonna shine!!

Putting lessons into practice is what we do! After working on money and change, we ended this 8 weeks by having lunch at Chili's where the STAARs had to order their own food, determine the cost and add the tax and tip and finally pay while determining the change they should get back. We are SUPER PROUD of their progress and growth!!

✨ THE POWER OF REPETITION! ✨

Since last October, we have consistently asked our STAARs one simple question: “What did you do over the weekend?”

In the beginning, this young man wasn’t able to answer the question. But we kept asking. We kept practicing. We kept giving him opportunities to communicate.

By March, he began repeating the question.

And now? He requests to be the one who asks the class! 🌟

This is why repetition matters. Progress doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it happens one question, one response, and one opportunity at a time.

We are SUPER proud of the progress this young man has made, and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

Keep practicing. Keep encouraging. Keep providing opportunities. Repetition builds confidence, independence, and growth.

Independence starts with opportunity. ⭐

Today, our STAARs completed community service with Meals on Wheels, independently bagging dog and cat food for families in our community. Tasks like these build confidence, responsibility, job-readiness skills, and the belief that “I can do this!”

We advocate for independence by giving individuals with disabilities opportunities to learn, practice, contribute, and succeed—with support when needed, but space to do it for themselves. 💫

Our Job Readiness BootCamp for individuals with disabilities ages 16–30 is coming up October 10th, 17th & 24th!

This hands-on experience will help participants build practical skills, confidence, and experience to prepare for the world of work. 💼✨
