The Doula Access Bill has passes unanimously in New Jersey. Every person birthing in NJ has the right to have a doula of their choice. Hospitals cannot require certification or block access to doulas. Huge win for parents in NJ!

The doula access bill has now unanimously passed both the Senate and the Assembly! Soon, every New Jersey mother will have the right to a doula in a hospital or birth center.

Ensuring the legal right to a doula is a big deal and wouldn't be possible without legislative champions M. Teresa Ruiz, Nellie Pou, Senator Burgess, Senator Joe Vitale, Assemblywoman Shanique Speight, Shavonda E. Sumter, Annette Quijano, Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, Assemblyman Herb Conaway, MD, Senate President Nick Scutari and Speaker Craig J. Coughlin.

I am grateful for our dedicated team and our partners New Jersey Doula Learning Collaborative, Community Doulas of South Jersey, The Children's Home Society of New Jersey and more. To the New Jersey doula community who have been tireless advocates for mothers both in and out of the delivery room, THANK YOU!

I definitely went outside my comfort zone to participate in Liz Magic Laser's incredible project "Convulsive States". Liz asked me to shake, rattle, and roll to demonstrate moves that can help move a labor along and adjust the baby's position.
