I’m just getting back into my NJ state of mind, listening to the Knicks parade on the radio. I’ve learned so much from my weeklong trip to the Dominican Republic.
Here is my advice:
First, make sure you catch the first flight out in the morning when traveling to the DR, and fill out the immigration form online before you travel.
Next, when returning, leave on an early flight home. The lines at the airport in Punta Cana in the late afternoon were terrible. (Note: you can pay a $30 per person fee for a VIP express exit.) We didn’t do it however as we wanted to see how long it took to wait in line. Allow plenty of time for departures if not doing the express departure.
Lastly, pick the right hotel! We loved Secrets Royal Beach. It’s right next door to Dreams. But these properties may not be for you. So let me know exactly what you’re looking for.
And oh yes…make sure you get rid of large suntan lotion tubes and plastic bottles before exiting, or you’ll most likely be pulled from the line and delayed.
Those are my tidbits of advice. But I have tons more!

Right now I’m in the Dominican Republic experiencing a number of all-inclusive properties.
Our first stop: Hilton’s new Zemi Miches all-inclusive resort. This was our lovely room. The hotel is about an hour’s drive from the airport. But once you arrive, you’ll never want to leave! Really! It’s lovely.
There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes when you’re a travel advisor. We look at and vet many properties before we recommend them to clients. Trips like this allow us to make sure there’s a good fit for our clients.
