** Have a Safe & Reflective Memorial Day **
As we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the freedoms we enjoy in our country. We are very proud to support our own Patrolman Kevin Ortiz, who will be this years keynote speaker for the Township of Montclair's 2026 Memorial Day Ceremony.
Kevin Ortiz attended and graduated from the Newark Public School system. From 2005 to 2014, he proudly served as a Marine Corporal and Artillery Section Chief, including one combat deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Noble Eagle.
Following his military service, Kevin became a Newark Police Officer, and later joined the Montclair Police Department where he currently serves. Kevin is a true servant, and holds several roles & titles, such as: Hostage Negotiator, Field Training Officer, and PBA State Delegate.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Kevin currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Montclair Police Athletic League (MPAL), has served on the Montclair Planning Board and is a proud member of American Legion Post 238.
We salute our brother Kevin Ortiz, and thank him for his service (past & present).

A scam is going around involving fake court documents claiming to be Notices of Hearing Traffic/Toll Violations from the Newark Municipal Court. These are not legitimate. Courts do not send summonses via text message. Indicators that the document may be fraudulent are. •no name of who the summons has been issued •no vehicle description/plate • no date of incident These fraudulent documents contain a QR code or a fraudulent link to submit payments. Do not click or scan them and do not submit any personal information. You can verify if you have received a real court document through any official court or county website. Please share this, stay vigilant and protect your personal information against scammers.
