MCCC Community Farm

As we wrap up another year here at the MCCC Farm, I would like to say thank you to all of the current and past workers, volunteers, students and supporters who have made the farm grow a little more each year, especially Ned Birkey who has been out here since day one!

We've had a lot of fun, and as I transition into a new career with Spartan Crop Insurance, I want to thank everyone who has helped make the MCCC Farm and the partnership MSU/MCCC Agriculture Program a huge success over the last five years! There are too many great memories to share, but I've included a few below to enjoy! Andy

The MCCC Farm hosted a field day a few weeks ago for our local agriculture friends and supporters. Michigan Farm Bureau attended and interviewed Jim Hoorman, a cover crop specialist, and did a very nice interview with great drone footage of the MCCC Farm in the link below!

2022 MCCC Farm Field Day in the books! What a great day, and thank you to all attendees, speakers and sponsors!

The Farm is looking great, especially the sunflowers! 🌻🌻

We have been providing fresh produce and cut flowers up to three times a week to our local partners, including MCOP, Village Market, Mable Kehres, the IHM, and events here at MCCC!

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to make this happen!

Excited to have J. Becker from the rapidly expanding Blissfield FFA program joining us this fall! Also excited to have a new FFA program at Ida H.S. this year!

Blissfield, Michigan's FFA is BACK! After a decades long break, Blissfield, Michigan's FFA program came roaring back two and a half years ago, and it has seen a lot of growth.

Happy Flag Day! Progress continues on the MCCC Farm...stalled today though with the 1' of rain last night. Thanks to the volunteers and local businesses that have helped this year so far!

A huge thank you to Jack's Lawn Service for donating (again!) 20 yards of compost to the MCCC Community Farm yesterday! The compost will be used in the new raised beds for growing vegetables. All produce grown on the farm will be donated to MCOP and the Oaks of Righteousness Village Market. We also had a big planting day, getting various veggies and flowers planted with our volunteer help!

Great day out at the MCCC Farm today! Our new raised bed project started to take shape, Ned was mowing the grass lanes and a few of our community plot friends stopped out to plant their areas!
