Today the Ward Roney Jr. VFW Post 7511 pauses with the rest of the Nation.

A gold star in a window was never a decoration. It meant a son or daughter, a husband or wife, a father or mother, a brother or sister did not come home. That family accepted a folded flag and then carried a lifetime of absence with dignity.

We honor the fallen by standing with those they left behind. Their sacrifice is not a chapter that closed. It is a debt this Post, this town, and this country still owe.

Fly the flag. Speak their names. Look after Gold Star families in Monroe and across the Nation. They have already given more than anyone should be asked to give.

This morning members of the Post and the Ward Roney Jr. VFW Post 7511 Auxiliary attended the Memorial marking the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our great nation.

During the ceremony, the Monroe Police Department Chief gave a resounding speech pointing to the unity and the setting aside of differences that followed that horrible day.

This video is merely one such instance of our country coming together in our time of trial.
